All 27 New Mega Evolutions Confirmed for Pokémon Legends

Pokémon Legends: Z-A took center stage at the July 2025 Pokémon Presents event, confirming major updates just months before its official release on October 16, 2025. Though the presentation lasted only around 24 minutes, Z-A received the spotlight—and for good reason. It not only showcases a return to Kalos, specifically Lumiose City, but also reintroduces one of the franchise’s most beloved mechanics: Mega Evolutions.

Mega Evolutions Return — And Then Some

While only Mega Dragonite was revealed during the event, its design exactly matches earlier leaks—essentially confirming the entire list of 27 new Mega Evolutions coming to the game. Dragonite, a fan-favorite from Generation I, now sports angelic wings on its head and shoulders and carries an orb at the end of its tail, reminiscent of Dragonair.

This single visual match all but verifies that the full list of leaked Mega Evolutions—26 others in total—is legitimate. According to insider sources and community datamines, here’s the complete lineup:

Lumiose City: A Revamped Setting With Rogue Megas

Rather than exploring an open region like in Legends: Arceus, Z-A keeps things focused within Lumiose City, a futuristic reimagining of Kalos’ capital. This compact world features vertical exploration, NPC-driven side quests, and the presence of Rogue Mega Evolutions—wild and unstable Pokémon that must be calmed before they can be captured or used in battle.

You’ll also encounter Alpha Pokémon, similar to those in Arceus, and new underground battle facilities tied to the game’s ranking system, where players rise from rank Z to A.

New Gameplay Mechanics – Real-Time Combat & Z-A Royale

The game is moving away from traditional turn-based battles in favor of real-time combat. Players can dodge, counter, and launch abilities dynamically—similar to action RPGs. There’s also a new battle royale-style mode called Z-A Royale, in which trainers compete to rise through the battle ranks.

No Mega Flygon, and Other Cuts

Sadly, not every fan-favorite cut. Despite years of demand, Flygon was once again left out of the Mega spotlight. According to internal leaks, a Mega Zeraora was also in early planning but was scrapped during development.

While some fans are disappointed, the wide variety of new Megas—spanning all generations—helps balance the blow.
